Putting together a website for your company? Then hopefully you already know the importance of having good web content on your webpage. No webpage will continue to get consistent traffic, no matter how great the product or service is, if the page looks unprofessional or lacks good web content.

When you put together the pages of your site, try using ideas—or IDEAs—that will boost the quality of your page and boost your traffic in the process. IDEA is a simple formula that will help you get the content you need to have a very professional site.

I is for Interesting: When visitors first enter your site, there needs to be something there that ‘grabs’ their attention and keeps them there for enough time to look around—and find what they are looking for. It’s imperative that there be a reason for them to remain there, and for them to continue to come back to your site. Having interesting content is important. A site with boring content is a site with no visitors. Using an engaging, conversational writing style, one that is not too wordy or too dry, will help keep readers on your pages longer.

D is for Dynamic: Change things up a bit now and then. Continue to add new and relevant content and links that are appealing to your visitors. When they return to your site to find something new, this is very reinforcing and will encourage them to return regularly to see what’s next. Daily updates are not usually necessary, but regularly adding new content will not only draw visitors but also result in higher search engine rankings.

E is for Easy: This means that the content should be easy to read, the pages should be easy to navigate, and everything should flow very smoothly. When pages are arranged in a visually pleasing and organized way, they look more professional. Keep graphics clean and sharp. Forget about those flashing graphics that take too long to load. Use regular fonts and use text colors and background colors that don’t make the eyes bleed (translation: text should be plain black, and backgrounds not too busy). Only underline hyperlinks, to avoid any confusion.

A is for Accurate: Any content that you put on your site should be accurate. Skip the junk, nobody wants to wade through it. Make sure that if your topic is ever-changing that you stay up to date. Any links that you have on your site should be regularly checked to make sure they still link to the right places. Keep in mind that accuracy refers not only to the information itself, but also to the mechanics—under no circumstances should there be typographical errors or misspellings on your pages, this is a huge turn off for many readers and instantly makes your site less professional. If you can’t take care of these details yourself, hire a writer to edit your pages.

Using the right IDEA when putting together your website content can make your site more professional. Having interesting, dynamic, easy, and accurate content will help keep visitors on your site longer and keep them coming back for more!

The importance of good web content cannot be stressed enough. Running a website these days takes a tremendous amount of time and effort. You need to get enough information on your website to keep your visitors’ interest and gain their business. Once you have customers, you want them to return. Some people are looking for information, some are looking for products and services. You need to cater to both crowds, and you need to do it well.

To have a successful website, you need to have a lot of internet marketing tools in your toolbox. One of the most important tools that you need is strong, successful content. This means that your web content needs to be communicating the right message at the right time. Your message needs to be relevant to your target audience and, hopefully, even memorable enough to have them refer their friends to your website.

How can you get strong, successful web content for your site? Well, there are really only a few choices. One, you can link to other interesting, relevant, and informative sites; two, you can write the content yourself; or, three, you can hire a writer to either contribute to your site or ghostwrite information for you to use as your own.

Let’s take a look at some of the details of each of those situations….

    (1) When all you have is interesting links to other sites, people eventually catch on to your strategy. Doing a little bit of this is great—and important. But, if it is all you do, then visitors eventually realize you don’t have anything to add. While you will get people to check out these other links, they will not take you seriously as an authority on your topic, and soon lose interest.

    (2) Keeping up with writing your own content and articles takes a tremendous amount of time, unless you have the ability to pound out professional-looking material in a timely manner. It’s probably more efficient for you to focus your attention on the other important tasks, like submitting articles to directories, optimizing your site, maybe getting an online shopping cart or setting up a live online chat link.

    (3) Hiring a writer to get content for your site is a practical and affordable strategy for getting content on your site. Someone that writes content professionally can often provide the web copy, articles, and posts that you need to keep your site fresh and unique. You can hire a writer to contribute to your site, or you can just get someone to ghostwrite your content and articles and you can claim them as your own.

Most would argue that the third option is best, if you can find a writer that is skilled and within your budget. Unless you are a very good writer yourself, it is a time consuming task. And, unless you are a very good writer, you run the risk of including grammatical errors, typos, and misspellings that can make your site look very unprofessional. Outsourcing your writing tasks frees up your time so that you can concentrate on the many other tasks that you want to take care of yourself—to make sure they are done correctly.

Hire a writer that can handle all of your web content needs. By outsourcing this work, you will have plenty of time to spend to get your website as professional and successful as possible.
